DOMAINE HAUTE FEVRIE
109, LA FEVRIE
Wine growers and producers for four generations, we grow a domaine of 26 Ha 60 in the heart of the appellation Muscadet Sèvre et Maine.
We are keen to manage our vine along environmentally friendly principles (no chemical fertilizers, with yield control and grape picking entirely by hand). We are evolving towards an increasingly natural management of the vines and grapes so as to fully comply to the latest environmental requirements.
BIO certified on the Vintage 2015.
From the tending of the vines to the marketing of the wines, our family has always be driven by the wish to do things the right way. Our patient and exacting efforts mean that our Muscadet show the full measure of their origins and breathe the soil which gave them life.

The young vines - 15 to 35 years old - from which "Haute Févrie" is produced are planted on the earliest maturing parcels of the Domaine, set on the hillside overlooking the Sèvre. The soils are clayey-silty over 40 to 60 cm before finding the parent rock consisting of Gneiss and Orthogneiss (metamorphic rocks rich in minerals).

Our cru Monnières-Saint Fiacre is located on our best soils (méthamorphiques Gneiss rocks dominant but also Amphibolites) between Saint-Fiacre and Monnières, this Muscadet exception is the fruit of hard work both in the vineyard that in the cellar.

24 months (minimum) on the lees in our cellars allow this Muscadet to develop the body and characters that make a great wine.

The "Clos de la Févrie" is produced from very old vines planted on the best plots in the estate. The oldest vines were planted in 1922 on the hillside overlooking the Sèvre.
The shallowness of the soil means that the vines have to burrow deep for their nutrients, to the bed rock which, in these plots, is made of gneiss and orthogneiss (metamorphic rocks with a high mineral content).
